Get involved with Gina’s Campaign
To build a strong movement for change we need lots of people to give little bits of help.
There’s lots of easy ways you can be part of making history in Lancaster and Fleetwood.
Help us from home
- Donate to the campaign fund (see overleaf for details about how to donate) – Election campaigns cost money so by donating to the campaign you can help us to run a more effective campaign.
- Display our poster in your window or garden – Displaying a poster means people can see for themselves the strength of our support.
- Write letters to the local press – Helping to promote Green ideas by getting letters printed in local papers is an excellent way to sway undecided voters.
- Talk about us to others and tell them you are voting Green this time!
Help us in the office
- General office assistance – Throughout the campaign our office will be busy so any help will free others up for other campaigning roles.
- Addressing and filling envelopes – There will be a number of runs of personalised mailing we need to send out.
Help us on the streets
- Deliver leaflets for us – This is the principle way we get our message across.
- Talk to people on their doorsteps – This not only helps us inform voters about our policies, it helps us get an idea of what people want their representatives to do for them.
- Help run a stand in Lancaster Market Square – This helps keep our profile high and gives people an opportunity to find out what we stand for.
Why Lancaster and Fleetwood?
People here already vote Green! At the last County Council elections (May 2009), the Greens came second in terms of all the votes cast (23%) beating Labour and the Lib Dems.
There are 39 district councillors elected within this constituency (to either Lancaster City or Wyre borough councils). Of these 39 councillors 12 are Green, 12 are Tories, 11 are Labour and 4 are Lib Dems.
Lancaster is the strongest local Green Party in the North West. This year fledgling Green parties have been set up in Over Wyre and Fleetwood. Alan Schofied who runs the local organic market garden Growing with Nature stood for the Greens for the first time in Wyreside in May and came second!
